Direct to Consumer (DTC) Manager- Michael David Winery

The person selected for this position will be responsible for all aspects of the Direct to Consumer Manager (DTC) channels. 

The successful candidate will be accountable for growth of sales channels through a VIN 65-supported Wine Club, Direct Mail, Telesales, and E-Commerce; development and expansion of wine club programs, conducting data mining analysis and with evolving planning; develop effective marketing programs; execute target telemarketing campaigns; and manage the accuracy of membership list and department goals. 

You will be ready to undertake responsibility for all of the direct-to-consumer accountabilities with minimal supervision and minimal administrative support, and clear and consistent communication with the VP of Sales and Marketing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop creative marketing programs that increase sales in all DTC channels.
  • Offer exceptional written communication for emails and newsletters
  • Oversee and develop an e-commerce platform as well develop and create a standard of practice for tracking sales, habits, dropped sales follow up, outreach, etc.
  • Track business with DTC metrics; measures of success and reporting; create new parameters as needed.
  • Manage inventory and shipments to ensure flawless execution of all DTC shipments.
  • Manage email marketing programs, including developing offers, writing copy, and developing customer list.
  • Work with hospitality manager and other teams to create programs, events, and opportunities to drive new customers to the winery, website, and mailing lists.
  • Develop effective marketing programs for DTC campaigns for current and future guests.
  • Offer beyond expectations for internal and external customer services.
  • Create effective marketing programs including e-mail blasts, promotional materials, and events for both consumers and wine club members.
  • Organize and supervise the timing and accuracy of wine club shipments, as well as re-orders, online, phone and marketing orders.
  • Develop wine club programs that create customer engagement, increase sales and build membership retention.
  • Build and maintain the image of a first-class wine club.
  • Develop target telemarketing campaigns to increase sales and membership.
  • Manage accuracy of the membership list, financial goals, and department budgets.
  • Increase wine club membership, sales, and profitability.
  • Analyze membership trends to develop wine club specific offers and communication.
  • Establish annual wine club goals including membership acquisition and retention goals, revenue, and expenses.
  • Manage the development of marketing materials pertaining to membership.
  • Analyze all costs related to shipping and handling
  • Verify invoicing and accounting for all DTC activities
  • Oversee DTC Compliance


  • For the performance of this job to be successful the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; be a self-starter; have excellent marketing skills with proven track record in hospitality sales and customer relations; strong customer service skills; knowledge of Tasting Room operations.

  • Must be 21 years or older.

 Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum five years’ experience in Wine Club Management, wine sales, or similar experience from outside the wine business.
  •  Minimum of three plus years’ experience in telesales, and digital development and sales.  Must have large event experience.

Communication Skills: 

  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Apply percentage discounts.
  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems, deals with a variety of variables, and manages situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills and Software:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should excel and have above average knowledge of the following:

  • Outlook-
  • Set up calendar. Search emails. Create folders, share with others.  Create appointments.
  • Excel-
  • Create worksheets/workbooks and templates.
  • Manipulate data, sort, and filter.  Thoroughly understand functions
  • Format and create charts, tables, and graphs. Pivot Table manipulation a plus
  • Power Point-
  • Create and develop presentations
  • Import data and pictures
  • Use of special effects to enhance presentations
  • Word-
  • Create, edit, save and track reports and changes. Add Tables
  • Create and use templates
  • Ability to handle fast-paced POS system.
  • VIN65 experience preferable, or ability to learn VIN65 software.
