Estate Director - Somerston

  • The Somerston Estate Director will serve as the expert on all Somerston brands.
  • The Somerston Estate Director is responsible for elevating the awareness of all brands within the company’s portfolio through all direct sales channels with a primary focus on the Somerston Estate wines.
  • This position is divided into two main areas of responsibility:

            1) wine sales and hospitality at the Somerston Estate.

            2) business development and networking to drive traffic to the WTR. This may require travel to      

                 support existing relationships or develop new relationships.

  • There is also general administration work required to run a profitable and transparent direct to consumers business.

Somerston Estate Director - Role & Responsibility

  • Business development and networking; drive traffic to the WTR and increase sales.
  • Sell wine while providing best of class hospitality to new guests, Allocation members, trade and VIP’s at the WTR to develop long-term customer relationships.
  • Represent brands at off-site events, tastings, and private parties.
  • Perform administrative duties for the WTR, including weekly and monthly inventory.
  • Develop and train the DTC team on signature tasting experiences.
  • Execute daily operations for the Estate Tasting Room (POS system, opening, closing, cleaning, stocking wines, opening and evaluating wines and general upkeep).

Business Development and Networking – Drive Traffic to WTR

  • Develop strong relationships with drivers, concierges, and other key individuals that can deliver qualified customers.
  • Develop strong relationships with other high-end wine sales associates to build a strong referral network.
  • Build those referral relationships at social gatherings, meetings, and events.

Sales and Hospitality Administration

  • Manage inventory by performing weekly inventory counts and reconciling to Zero Sales Forms (“ZSF”) and inventory transfers.
  • Execute daily operations in the WTR (POS system, opening, closing, inventory, cleaning stocking wines, opening and evaluating wines and general upkeep), and participate in and understand daily, monthly and quarterly inventory.
  • Submit weekly restock orders based on projected needs (including wines needed for both on-site and off-site events).
  • Reconcile inventory, wine receipts, wine transfers and ZSF weekly


  • Develop positive relationship with new and existing customers to create long-term loyalty to the brand.
  • Meet and exceed monthly wine sales goals and allocation acquisitions.
  • Drive traffic to WTR.
  • Successful management of administration of WTR
  • First in class hospitality to all customers.
  • Have a successful referral network that drive qualified customers
  • Be a productive member and of a successful direct to consumer sales team.
  • Successfully complete all administration duties accurately and on a regular and timely basis.


  • Must be 21 years of age and be able to lift and carry 48 pounds.
  • Must be able to sell wine, represent the brand, sell loyalty programs
  • Minimum of B.A. or B.S. degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Vin65.
  • Effective writing skills for intercompany and consumer communications.
  • Luxury retail experience – strong background in sales and hospitality.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible to work different schedules/hours when necessary.
  • Strategic thinking – the ability to identify new opportunities to grow the business.
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders, including ownership, operations, winemaking, marketing and finance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation skills
  • Valid driver’s license; physical ability to accomplish travel by car, plane; ability to sit and operate computer; ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, working some weekends/evenings as necessary
  • Have a strong knowledge of Napa Valley & our brand’s history
  • Have knowledge of all aspects of our winemaking process, including viticulture, winemaking, barrel fermentation, barrel aging, bottling and bottle aging
