Director of Marketing & PR

The Director of Marketing & PR will serve as a strategic business partner who provides expertise, guidance and counsel to the members and other stakeholders, while leading the initiatives that create and execute strategies to help drive Cork Quality Council (CQC) goals.

Based out of North Bay, CA this position is responsible for all public relations activities in the US, including (but not limited to) executive and strategic communications, press relations, issues management, website, social media, marketing programs, brand exposure for the group and promotion and placement of cork.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute marketing plan for the CQC brand as a whole. Work closely with wineries, business and trade media to cultivate positive media coverage
  • Serve as an official spokesperson and handle all media inquiries while fielding questions and developing press materials, media pitching and placement
  • Manage outside agencies and freelances as needed to accomplish the marketing and public relationship objectives for the CQC
  • Cultivate relationship and work closely with the Executive director and all CQC members
  • Develop, manage and execute external communication strategies and activities that support the CQC goals, major initiatives, vision, mission and values. Distributing content via website and social media channels
  • Monitor media opportunities, industry groups, events and causes that can be associated with CQC brand and leveraging the outreach

  • Basic P&L understanding

Execution of Trade and Consumer Programs (50%)

  • Sales contact for in-market promotions, supply and demand issues, etc.
  • Marketing budget management, .
  • Program management with little or no direction
  • Marketing Material generation
  • Analysis of ROI for all programs and recommendations to continue, stop or adjust
  • Auditing and updating of website content
  • Ensure that legal approval is secured for all programs
  • Update and maintain marketing calendars
  • Management and communication of incentive programs and sales contests
  • Provide & maintain the content of the website and social media sites ( Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Blogs, etc.)
  • Writing of email blasts, Website content, various materials
  • Assist with the execution of consumer and trade events
  • Oversee planning and execution of VIP trade visits, incentive and education trips
  • Manage special projects including partner relationships
  • Customer relationship management and communication
  • Vendor management and negotiation
  • Assist in product photo shoots
  • Manage advertising insertion orders

Brand Plan Development Support & Analysis (50%)

  • Assist the committee with plan content development, ideation, etc.
  • Assist with the formatting of the plan, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the plan

Experience Required:

  • College degree (marketing or related field preferred)
  • Ideally, 2-3 years of previous wine, CPG marketing or sales experience - corporate communication
  • Marketing or public relations with proven history of supporting and achieving business goals.
  • Experience interviewing and participating in market research
  • Strong track record of successful program results
  • Good wine knowledge and appreciation

Experience Preferred:

  • MBA 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  •  Driver’s license and insurance in CA
  • Travel required
