Quality Assurance Supervisor

Position Summary:

Supervises and coordinates Quality Assurance Department

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:      

Oversee and implement all quality assurance functions pertaining to packaging material, bottling, wine quality while bottling, microbiological sterility, and bottling line set-up. 

Provide information to clients and act as an intermediary to clients when dealing with QA problems or questions, inspect incoming supplies, and notify the involved parties of any problems.

Evaluate current QA procedures and develop new procedures as needed. 

Supervise and support QA staff.  Prepare QA budget forecasts.

  • Verify the effectiveness of the sanitation program by identifying microbiological testing locations including auxiliary water source, reviewing microbiological results, observing sanitation practices and general operating hygiene.
  • Monitor filtration effectiveness, bubblepoint test results and pressure differentials.
  • Manage product holds to include the NCP Log.
  • Review all quality control documentation for accuracy, completion and conformance to specifications.
  • Train QA Technicians on good laboratory practices with regards to microbiological testing and ensure proper testing conditions are present.
  • Collaborate with Bottling Supervisors on all potential packaging quality issues to ensure that Supplier Incident reports are completed and information is accessible to review with suppliers and clients.
  • Verification of bottling line set-up.
  • Line checks upon start-up of bottling.
  • Perform a visual inspection of the finished package to verify all components are correct and meet all parameters.
  • Hourly line evaluations of the finished package, verify all legal requirements, check all parameters.  Place on hold if necessary.
  • Check sanitation and monitor microbiological sterility of both the bottling line equipment and all wines that are being bottled.  Review results, replate as necessary.  Review with client and/or bottling line manager as needed.
  • Review all packaging for defects that may be caused by the bottling line (torn labels, excess glue, scuffing, incorrect materials, etc.).
  • Supply testing for incoming supplies, evaluate all glass, labels, foils, boxes, and corks for defects and check specifications.  Notify and consult with client.
  • Through QA Reports document supplies issues that happen on line.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Computer skills:  Excel, Word, Outlook, AMS, Legiwin.
Communication skills.
Attention to detail, and good organizational skills.
Flexibility of work schedule.
Good math, reading and writing skills, in English.
High motivation and ability to accommodate schedule changes.
