Marketing Manager - Eden Rift Vineyards

The Company

Eden Rift Vineyards is a privately-owned, limited-production San Benito county wine estate seeking to create world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  The 500 acre, hillside estate currently has 90 planted acres and expects to complete the development of an additional 50 + acres over the next two years.  The property has a rich heritage dating back to the 1800’s.  The winery expects to produce reserve and estate bottlings of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and limited amounts of old vine Zinfandel.  Other wines or varieties may be produced from purchased grapes from time to time.

First release expected Fall, 2017.  Sales will be made through limited national distribution in select states, established export relationships and DTC at the winery tasting room, wine club and website. 

 

The Position

Eden Rift is recruiting a seasoned Marketing and Communication Manager who will join the management team to plan, develop and implement Eden Rift’s US marketing and communication strategy in conjunction with the global strategic plan.  The individual will report to Christian Pillsbury, proprietor.  More specifically, areas of responsibility include:

Product Management

  • Manage brand communications and brand equity for US national and DTC markets
  • Support sales efforts with direct control of POS strategy, events and PR management
  • Creation, production and management of trade show and event materials

PR / Social Media

  • Manage and develop existing relations and year round calendar with PR agencies with a focus on tangible deliverables and outcomes
  • Work with retail and restaurant wine community partners and their PR agencies to build out niche category stories on a regional as well as national basis
  • Develop strategic, performance-based media plans to best target prospects, buyers, and lapsed buyers
  • Develop and execute online content marketing strategies and plans
  • Implement, manage, and coordinate all social media profiles including daily monitoring, management, postings and general outreach across all accounts. Will require experience in Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Message Boards, etc. with a sensitive ear for communications “tone”

Other Marketing / Promotional activities

  • Create and manage trade marketing activities in conjunction with management and sales team
  • Coordinate activities around scheduled trade  and consumer events and submission dates ensuring synergies across all marketing channels
  • Plan and coordinate on line marketing activities
  • Develop and execute customer acquisition, retention and engagement campaigns with the objective of driving demand,
  • Work collaboratively with internal team members and third party vendors to identify opportunities and cross channel initiatives.
  • Work with global marketing team to develop, support and implement any global marketing initiative

Key Experience, Skills and Style

Eden Rift Vineyards expects the successful candidate to have a proven track record of success as a leader in building a consumer products or luxury wine strategy and managing its rollout. In this role, the candidate will have been responsible for (co-) development of packaging, dealing with PR firms, organizing (inter-) national media and trade events and preferably including experience in manage social media content as well as (trade) marketing  activations.

The successful candidate will have a balanced combination of strategic and tactical execution skills. He/she will also be an effective communicator with internal and external parties with a special sensitivity for cultural tone.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience as a marketing & communication manager
  • Consumer products experience. Upscale, lifestyle products are a plus.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally
